Fishing


Fishing is the ideal activity for keen fisher folk or for those students who are unable to get wet. At Aquatics there are a number of locations where students can try their luck with rod and line. Depending on the weather conditions students fish either off the Port Noarlunga Jetty, in the Onkaparinga river or from the beach Students fishing
Fishing gear
Initially fishing students learn how to bait up a hook. They are then taught how to cast safely. Students who attend for more than one session are taught how to untangle lines and how to rig up a bare rod. They learn a few basic knots in this process. Instructors lead discussions on catch limits and sizes, where to fish safely and what to take on a fishing expedition

Fishing students learn the art of patience as there is of course no guarantee that fish will be caught. Any fish that are caught and are undersized are immediately thrown back into the water. A good sized fish can be taken home provided the student has some way to keep the catch cool. Students fishing
