Reef Walks

Reef walks provide students with the unique experience of seeing Port Noarlunga Reef from a completely different perspective.  Initially students are put into groups of six or seven and then meet their instructor. Schools which bring students from the lower junior primary may bring a parent with each group.

After being fitted with a personal floatational jacket students learn a little of the area and its environmental importance. The groups take the rescue boats out to the reef so that the students can see for themselves the creatures that live on the reef.  Everyone should wear thick socks in order to minimise the impact of walking on the reef.

As well as looking at the reef the students can see Port Noarlunga from the sea and understand how the changes in geology have shaped the landscape.
