Water Safety

Water Safety at Port Noarlunga is for students in Reception to Year 7 and is normally run over five sessions. The emphasis each session is on safety and swimming. The students are given a wet suit each lesson to help keep them warm and buoyant.  There is a trailer of smaller equipment at the Aquatics Centre which is used only by water safety students. Each session sees the students learning new skills. After talks and demonstrations involving safety and swimming, students are exposed to a new piece of equipment each day. Instructors are able to tailor the content of the class to the students' abilities and confidence.

Water safety students use bodyboards, small soft boards, kickboards, rescue equipment, personal floatation devices, masks and snorkels. They also work through a series of skills set out by the Department of Education.
