Windsurfing

Windsurfing (sometimes called sailboarding) is normally taught on the sand spit in the bay between Southport and the Port Noarlunga jetty. Each lesson begins with student’s being outfitted with the appropriate windsurfing safety equipment. During the first lesson while the boards are on the beach students practise lifting the sail and positioning their body in relation to the wind direction.

Windsurfing is one of the more extreme activities; however with modern windsurfing equipment - wide buoyant boards and small lightweight sails- means that even the smallest student can experience success

Once students can stand on the board and sail across the wind they progress to learning how to steer and turn the board.  This enables them to sail on a projected course, turn and sail back to their starting point.  All this is done within the safe and protected water well within the Port Noarlunga Reef
